Tampa Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy is a nonsurgical interventional treatment that introduces new adult stem cells collected from the patient into damaged areas such as discs in order to treat the disease or injury. Stem cells have the ability to become different cells that can then produce specialized types of cells such as cartilage. When surgery is necessary, we also offer stem cell therapy as an adjunct to help improve healing and recovery.
The goal of stem cell therapy is to help relieve or decrease pain from injury or damaged areas from arthritic conditions in the spine. Stem cells can then be used to help regenerate damaged or injured areas of the
Stems cells can be used to help treat painful spine conditions such as:
- Degenerative discs
- Bulging discs
- Facet arthropathy (the joints in the rear portion of the spinal column)
- Other arthritic conditions of the spinal column
Stem cell therapy is administered by injecting the stem cells into the damaged areas such as the discs or facets. The stem cells are collected from the patient’s pelvic (hip) bone marrow. In some cases, the stem cell therapy can be administered in one session in an office setting without the need for general anesthesia.
Stem cell therapy is a very safe procedure. Most common symptom is discomfort at the injection site.
Since this is typically a non-surgical treatment the recovery is very rapid with little to no “down” time.
