Whiplash is defined as neck pain due to the mechanism of sudden extension followed by flexion in the neck area. We have treated a significant number of patients with whiplash due to motor vehicle accidents in the Tampa Bay area. Most of the time whiplash is not associated with any significant MRI findings or x-ray findings. Unfortunately, if untreated appropriately, the acute whiplash can become a chronic injury with symptoms that last for years and even for lifetime. Symptoms not only include neck pain but also headaches, dizziness, blurry vision which are all associated and have started after the initial injury. Therefore, it is very important to treat whiplash injuries early and recognized symptoms accurately.
